In The Good Old Days...
Posted by: Tammy | Category: Fun stuff and thoughts
Seriously. Every morning, I wake up and check mine and my clients' Twitter, Facebook, Blog, Newsclip (and, and, and) pages, profiles and posts. This in-between keeping up to date with all the latest happenings around the world which could somehow impact me, my clients, my bond, my family, my country. And then my dad tells me he wishes I made the time to watch the news. I think If I was to take in another morsel of information, I would spontaneously combust. And that wouldn't be ideal. There is too much to do.
All of the above being said, it is impressive how the members of my generation have become incredibly skilled at being multi-taskers (even the men - a fellow business owner has 4 blogs. Insane). The new Twitter rage is a perfect example of how we find the time in our jam-packed days to impart our knowledge, findings and items of reading pleasure with the rest of our "followers", just because. Okay, sometimes there is a subliminal (and occasionally not so subliminal) brand or product push in the "tweet", but it is mostly a sharing of FYI's which tend to leave me feeling a little overwhelmed with the amount of info that is literally at my fingertips, but which I simply do not have the time to get through. I realise the information has ALWAYS been there. It's different when your peers taunt you with it.
If anyone has found a brilliantly simple way of knowing everything without having to take it all in, please do contact me on 0800-infooverload. That's 0800-463668375623 (it's a long number because i'm trying to get the world back for overlaoding me with info).
In the meantime, you will find me at my desk working. (And, um, occasionally checking my facebook, twitter and blog posts)
